SUMMARY:McMinnville Chess Tournament at Evergreen Museum
DESCRIPTION:Our May 10th tournament at Evergreen Museum was a great success\, and our post-tournament coverage is now available. We had 4 sections\, 23 participants\, 45 total attendees\, 15 sponsors\, and ∞ fun! We’re grateful to everyone who attended\, to our volunteers and organizing team\, to the team at Evergreen Museum\, and to our amazing sponsors. \n\n\nWe are excited to announce the first McMinnville Chess Tournament on Saturday\, May 10th\, from 9am-1pm. Join us! \nWe’re meeting at Evergreen Museum\, where we’ve reserved several rooms to accommodate our event and comfortably accommodate up to 30 players. Tickets are $15\, and there’s no fee at all to current club members at any level (monthly\, annual\, and lifetime). We also have a scholarship program and a discount code for anyone who asks. No one will ever be turned away for lack of funds. \nThis event is brought to you with support from our sponsors\, including EMPWR Nutrition\, a local company that offers nutritional bars that create a unique snacking experience inspiring to a healthier lifestyle. Thank you to EMPWR Nutrition and our other sponsors for helping our chess community grow and making this event possible! \nTOURNAMENT DETAILS\nAttendees are asked to bring their own chess clocks and boards (BYOB!)\, keep open containers away from game boards and equipment\, and are expected to agree to our Community Code of Conduct for a fun\, supportive space for everyone. A limited number of club-provided chess sets and clocks will be available\, first-come\, first-served. \n• Tournament is open to all until tickets sell out \n• There will sections for both US Chess-rated and -unrated players of all ages \n• We have four divisions\, Youth Rated\, Youth Unrated\, Adult Rated\, and Adult Unrated\, with preference given to youth players in our community and beyond \n• Time control is G/30\, which means each player has 30 minutes to complete their portion of the game. Each game could possibly be a full 60 minutes (30 minutes for each player)\, but games are usually shorter than that \n• More details will be sent to you after registration \n• There will be prizes for the winners! Must be present to win! \n• We begin promptly at 9am\, and there are no refunds for late- or no-shows \n• Please note that event registration is on MacChess.org and not at any other website \n• A limited number of scholarship tickets are available. Contact us! \nABOUT EVERGREEN MUSEUM\nThe Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum is an independent\, 501c3 non-profit aviation museum in McMinnville\, Oregon. Its exhibits include the Hughes H-4 Hercules (Spruce Goose) and more than fifty military and civilian aircraft\, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones)\, and spacecraft. \nThe museum complex includes four main buildings: the original aviation exhibit hall\, a large screen digital theater\, a second exhibit hall focused on space technology\, and a water park. We will be located in rooms 301 + 302 in the East Pavilion. \nEvergreen Museum’s primary focus is education with a dedicated mission of providing fun and exciting education programs for children across the nation that sparks an interest in STEAM\, creating the next generation of aviators and space explorers. \nRooms 301 + 302\, where our chess tournament will be held\, will be in the East Pavilion\, which is closest to the North Lot. If in doubt\, in the center of the outdoor walkway between the two buildings in a giant compass that will help you remember which building is East or West. \nIf you have any questions about exhibits or need directions\, anyone at the front desk or wandering around in a green vest can help you find rooms 301 + 302. \nWHAT TO BRING\nBring a chess board and clock (if you have them).
