Guests are welcome to browse the Chess Library\, and we welcome donations to the library at our events. \n(Check out our calendar of events! This event is free to members and guests alike\, and no ticket is necessary. \nPRACTICE TOURNAMENTTo help everyone prepare for our tournament on May 16th\, we’re offering a practice tournament to our members and to the general public. Please note that although this is a “practice” tournament\, we do have a rated section for USCF-rated players! \n• A limited number of club-provided regulation chess sets and clocks will be available\, first-come\, first-served \n• Tournament entry is FREE\, and donations are welcome \n• We have four divisions\, Scholastic Youth Rated\, Youth Scholastic Unrated\, Adult Rated\, and Adult Unrated \n• Time control is G/15\, which means each player has 15 minutes to complete their portion of the game. Each game could possibly be a full 30 minutes (15 minutes for each player)\, but games are usually shorter than that \n• Notation is optional but recommended. Scoresheets and pens will be provided \n• We begin promptly at 6pm \n• More details will be sent to you after registration. SUMMARY:McMinnville Chess Club at Mac Market
DESCRIPTION:McMinnville Chess Club is for all ages and skill levels\, and our members enjoy open play\, timed and untimed games\, opportunities for chess study and lessons\, and the nicest chess players you’ll ever meet in town. \nWe meet every Wednesday from 5:30 to 8pm at Mac Market\, a collaborative and community-driven eating\, drinking\, shopping and gathering place housed in a renovated\, historic warehouse in the Granary District in beautiful McMinnville\, Oregon. This event is free to members and guests alike\, and no ticket is necessary. \nWe’ll have club-provided sets and clocks (first-come\, first-served) and the McMinnville Chess Library\, a curated collection of books\, magazines\, and equipment available to our members to check out and take home to aid their journey in the game that we love. Guests are welcome to browse the Chess Library\, and we welcome donations to the library at our events. \n(Check out our calendar of events! We also meet every Saturday afternoon at Harvest Fresh!) \nABOUT OUR VENUEOffering several drink and food options\, Mac Market is home to Day by Day Bar\, Honey Pie Pizza\, Creativi Tee\, Wellspent Market\, plus private and public events — including the McMinnville Chess Club! \nMembers are asked to enjoy responsibly and to keep open containers away from game boards and equipment\, bring their own chess clocks and boards (BYOB!)\, and are expected to agree to our Community Code of Conduct for a fun\, supportive space for everyone. \n    Mac Market    1140 NE Alpine Ave.    McMinnville\, Oregon 97128 \nWe’re meeting downstairs next to the Airstream trailer where there are plenty of tables to accommodate our club. Many thanks to Mac Market for having us since our first regular club meeting in May\, 2023! \nPlease support our venue by making a purchase. Grab a drink at Day by Day Bar or a slice at Honey Pie\, join us downstairs by the Airstream trailer\, and sign in at our Welcome table. The downstairs area is ADA-accessible\, but please contact an organizer in advance of this event so that we can work to accommodate your needs. \nWHAT TO BRINGPlease bring a chess board and clock (if you have them). Mac Market’s game table has 2 chess boards that are first-come\, first-served\, and there are also other board games available — by all means\, however\, please bring your own. The more boards there are\, the more people can play. \nChess clocks are welcome but not necessary.
