Join us for an evening of chess, including free, open play for everyone and a USCF-rated blitz tournament for those who get a ticket below.

McMinnville Chess Club is for all ages and skill levels, and our members enjoy open play, timed and untimed games, opportunities for chess study and lessons, and the nicest chess players you’ll ever meet in town.

We meet every Wednesday from 5:30 to 8pm at Mac Market, a collaborative and community-driven eating, drinking, shopping and gathering place housed in a renovated, historic warehouse in the Granary District in beautiful McMinnville, Oregon. This event is free to members and guests alike, and no ticket is necessary.

We’ll have club-provided sets and clocks (first-come, first-served) and the McMinnville Chess Library, a curated collection of books, magazines, and equipment available to our members to check out and take home to aid their journey in the game that we love. Guests are welcome to browse the Chess Library, and we welcome donations to the library at our events.

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT
Attending chess club is always free, and to participate in the tournament it’s $5 (early bird pricing) and $10 (regular pricing) starting October 5th, while supplies last. Monthly, annual, and lifetime members have no entry fee. Sign up as a member today, or get a ticket below.

 • This is a blitz tournament, and time control is G/5 (5 minute per person per game).
 • When registering, choose Double Quads (Rated) or Double Quads (Unrated).
 • In the unlikely case of too few registrations, we’ll have a Swiss section so everyone still has a chance to play in the tournament.
 • There will be 6 rounds: 3 games for each player as White, and 3 games for each player as Black.
 • Registration closes at 5:30pm on the night of the tournament.
 • You must get a ticket in order to play. We cannot do walk-in registrations.
 • There will be prizes for the winners! Must be present to win!
 • 30 tickets are available.
 • Please note that event registration is on MacChess.org and not at any other website.
 • More details will be sent to you after registration. Check your email frequently, and manually label any emails you receive from us as “Not spam” to guarantee delivery of our emails.
 • This is a USCF-rated tournament and is covered under our Code of Conduct, Principles of Club Etiquette, and the US SafeSport Code.

ABOUT OUR VENUE
Offering several drink and food options, Mac Market is home to Day by Day Bar, Honey Pie Pizza, Creativi Tee, Wellspent Market, plus private and public events — including the McMinnville Chess Club!

Members are asked to enjoy responsibly and to keep open containers away from game boards and equipment, bring their own chess clocks and boards (BYOB!), and are expected to agree to our Community Code of Conduct for a fun, supportive space for everyone.

Grab a drink at Day by Day Bar or a slice at Honey Pie, and join us and sign in at our Welcome table. The downstairs area is ADA-accessible, but if you have any questions please contact an organizer in advance of this event so that we can work to accommodate your needs.

WHAT TO BRING
Please bring a chess board and clock (if you have them). Mac Market’s game table has 2 chess boards that are first-come, first-served, and there are also other board games available — by all means, however, please bring your own. The more boards there are, the more people can play.

Chess clocks are welcome but not necessary. The “Chess Clock by Chess.com” app is good to use in a pinch.
