Speed chess is one of the most popular forms of chess, and it’s — in a word — a rush. We’ll be playing blitz chess and each player gets be 5 minutes (or 3 minutes for the brave who want to play bullet chess). After the game (win or lose), it’s time to play again.

Santiago Tenesaca, who recently sat down with me for a community spotlight interview to talk about chess and life, is hosting! Everyone is welcome, all ages and all skill levels. Haven’t tried blitz? Now’s your chance.

Put your skills to the test, try out new openings, and have fun playing under time pressure with the nicest chess club members you’ll ever meet in town.

We’ll be in the front cafe area from 7-9pm. Please consider supporting our venue, get a sandwich from the grab-and-go, or do your weekly shopping when you’re done playing. Roth’s is open until 10pm.

BYOB (bring your own board!) and chess clock. The more boards there are, the more people can play. If you don’t have a clock, download the “Chess Clock by Chess.com” app.

Members are asked to enjoy responsibly and to keep open containers away from game boards and equipment, bring their own chess clocks and boards, and are expected to agree to our Community Code of Conduct for a fun, supportive space for everyone.
