Testimonials & Reviews

Jude has really enjoyed attending the McMinnville Chess Club meetups. It’s a wonderful group of like-minded (and kind-hearted) locals spanning multiple generations. You will often find the older members coaching and guiding the younger ones, and it is truly something special.

There are perks to becoming a member, access to one-on-one private coaching with the club’s organizer and leader, Christefano Reyes, a library of chess books, and you don’t need your own board to play. There is so much to glean from a group like this, and I’m so delighted it exists in our little corner of the world.

Club meets Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons at Mac Market and Velvet Monkey Teahouse. More details on their page and website! And don’t forget to bring a few bucks to throw in the donation bucket for all their hard work organizing these weekly opportunities for our community… especially our youth!

The Chess Club at Mac Market is a fantastic place for players of all ages to come together and enjoy the game. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, everyone is welcome, and it’s completely free to join! They not only play but also teach, making it a great opportunity to learn and improve.

Personally, I’ve learned so much from playing with them, and every session is both fun and educational. Plus, the great food at Mac Market makes the experience even better! Every Wednesday, you’ll find a friendly and fun atmosphere where laughter is guaranteed.

If you’re looking for a great time, a welcoming community, and some delicious food, this is the place to be!

I had the chance to visit the McMinnville Chess Club on my vacation to Oregon, and it was a very good experience. I played with some very good players, not only because of the type of game but because the quality of its people, not to mention the environment where they practice this passionate sport.

I have to congratulate to the management´s efforts. They’ve managed to motivate and gather the people of the area to spend their time on something very productive, and I could see young people learning. Chess is one of the sports that teaches you many things, one of them being able to interact with people of all ages from whom you can learn a lot.

If you are visiting McMinnville, I encourage you to play chess in one of its popular congregation venues. I´m sure that you’ll be welcomed and have a good time to relax, have a drink, or a bite to eat.
