Online Resources
Chess.com
McMinnville Chess Club has a hangout on Chess.com, where we allow safe play between members of the club and occasionally have club matches between our club and others, including our sister clubs.
To join us, come to a club meeting and ask to be added by an organizer.
Lichess
The platform we recommend the most these days at chess club is Lichess, which is completely free, ad-free, and tracking-free. It has all the features found in Chess.com but without the heavy ads, upsells, and tracking.
Lichess also has a Kid Mode, which designed to allow kids to safely play chess online with others. Chat is disabled, and kids can’t send or receive anything beyond chess moves. It even supports playing anonymously and without an account.
United States Chess Federation
Registering with the United States Chess Federation (USCF) includes the monthly Chess Life and Chess Life Kids magazines, allows members to play in rated tournaments and climb the chess ladder with an official, nationally recognized chess rating.
Sister Clubs
Cuanca Club de Ajadrez Café Austria
Our sister club, Cuenca Club de Ajedrez Café Austria of Cuenca, Ecuador, is led by Juan Tenesaca, Peter Chin Dur, Mario Gustavo Vicente, and Roman Barahona Bustamante.
Juan visited and attended our club for several months, and we’ve had club matches between our clubs on Chess.com. Hear what Juan has to say about McMinnville Chess Club in his own words.
