Local Chess Clubs
Duniway Chess Club
Duniway Middle School has the Duniway Chess Club, led by Mike Terrill, and we held a fundraiser together with Rip N Card Trick and raised enough funds for 10 regulation chess sets.
Duniway’s chess club meets at Duniway Middle School on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30pm.
Mac High Chess Club
McMinnville High School (MHS) has the Mac High Chess Club, led by Christefano Reyes.
Mac High’s chess club meets in the Flex Room at the MHS Library on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30pm, except on the 2nd Wednesdays of the month when meetings are held in the Activities Lobby.
Chess.com
McMinnville Chess Club is also found on Chess.com, where we allow safe play between members of the club and occasionally have club matches between our club and others, including our sister clubs.
To join us, come to a club meeting and ask to be added by an organizer.
ChessKid
From the makers of Chess.com, ChessKid offers a full curriculum, puzzles, and more. This is the platform that used by to track the progress of my students, and it’s fun to use for youth and non-teachers, as well.
United States Chess Federation
Registering with the United States Chess Federation (USCF) includes the monthly Chess Life and Chess Life Kids magazines, allows members to play in rated tournaments and climb the chess ladder with an official, nationally recognized chess rating.
Sister Clubs
Cuanca Club de Ajadrez Café Austria
Our sister club, Cuenca Club de Ajedrez Café Austria of Cuenca, Ecuador, is led by Juan Tenesaca, Peter Chin Dur, Mario Gustavo Vicente, and Roman Barahona Bustamante.
Juan visited and attended our club for several months, and we’ve had club matches between our clubs on Chess.com.
