McMinnville Chess Club at The Velvet Monkey

McMinnville Chess Club is for all ages and skill levels, and we offer free, open play events, rated and unrated tournaments, resources and opportunities for chess study and lessons, and the nicest chess club members you’ll ever meet in town.
We meet on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays from 2-4pm at The Velvet Monkey, McMinnville’s very own tea shop and lounge on Downtown Third at 406 NE 3rd St. Join us!
ABOUT OUR VENUE
Surrounded by 100+ teas, a wide selection of teaware, chocolates, and medicinal blends, we will be meeting in the Velvet Monkey lounge in the Lower Level of the building. Please support our venue by making a purchase, and call them at (503) 857-0785 with any questions you may have about our venue.
Members are asked to enjoy responsibly and to keep food and open containers away from game boards and equipment, bring their own chess clocks and boards (BYOB!), and are expected to agree to our Community Code of Conduct for a fun, supportive space for everyone.

Unfortunately the downstairs area is not ADA-accessible, so please contact an organizer in advance of this event so that we can work to accommodate your needs.
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring a chess board and clock (if you have them). The Velvet Monkey has a very nice house chessboard that’s first-come, first-served, and we also have — by all means, however, please bring your own! The more boards there are, the more people can play!
Chess clocks are welcome but not necessary! The “Chess Clock by Chess.com” app is good to use in a pinch.
